Buttery Steak Toast

Screw avocado toast.

There's no good way to reheat leftover steak. So just don't. My favourite way for leftovers is quick and easy, and apparently, also on trend.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings 1 person

  • 1 piece thick-cut Canadian or Winnipeg rye or bread of choice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 2 oz approx. leftover steak sliced to about half an inch thick
  • handful of greens arugula, mixed greens, spinach, microgreens, etc.
  • a few pieces of very finely sliced red onion
  • salt & pepper to taste

  1. Toast the bread. Duh.
  2. While bread is toasting, slice your steak and red onion. Peel clove of garlic and cut in half.
  3. Once bread is toasted, rub the toast with the cut-side of one of the halves of garlic, and butter the toast.

  4. Scatter greens on top and layer steak slices on top of greens, overlapping as needed.
  5. Top with slices of red onion, additional microgreens, if desired, and season with salt and pepper. Enjoy!
