There’s no going back after a tragedy, or a death, or a loss, or a change. Why would we diminish growth? We grow into something else that’s more than what we were before the tragedy happened. We can never become less than what we’ve ever been– we can only grow. And resistance, trying to go backwards, is only going to lead to stagnation, to frustration, and to heartache. That’s exactly what happened to me in 2018.
Shop Small & Local This Christmas If you read my Holiday Gift Guide for the Ladies, you’ll have read all about why I chose the items that I did. (I suggest heading there first.) I wanted to put together gift guides that were filled with items from small and local shops and business as well…
Whether you’ll be ready or not, Christmas is coming. So get ahead of the crowds and get your shopping done early so you can relax with a glass of wine and sweet treat and actually enjoy the season this year. All I Want for Christmas My mom has been hounding me for a few weeks…
Whew! It’s been a hot minute. The camp has been closed up and I’ve been sulking here on mainland for about two and a half weeks. I’m not one to fangirl over fall– legit don’t think I’ve ever ordered a Pumpkin Spice Latte. But I do love a good mushroom hunt, and we’ve had a…
Since this is the first weekend of Fall and we’ve had our first snowfall, I guess it’s safe to say that Summer is over. Fine. Whatever. I’m always the last to admit it– the final one desperately holding on to the last remnants of summer. But with snow on September 22nd, even I will freely…
Let me preface this by saying this review is not sponsored. I picked up the bottle initially because of the absolutely wicked job done by their marketing department, and purchased it because I was thoroughly intrigued. It’s not everyday you find a pre-bottled cocktail of this calibre. Plus, it’s BarChef. Take my money. I had posted the…
Autumn is comin’ in hot over here on Lake of the Woods. We’ve had an incredibly dry summer, which means the leaves started falling agonizingly early. By the end of August we already had a good coating of leaves on the ground. It’s also gotten pretty quiet. There’s a considerable drop-off in lake traffic after the…
Ahh. Summer at the lake. Where the beer is cold, the fish are biting, and gas is $1.60 a litre. I wanna do this forever. Let’s quit our jobs and move here and never leave. I don’t want summer to end! Your liver and wallet would probably disagree with you, Becky. But I’m not one to ruin…
Screw avocado toast. Life’s short. Go for the steak. This summer has been nothing short of insane. Between my dad having a spinal cord stroke, a minor condo fire days later, and hitting a bear with the brand new boat, it’s been a summer to remember. Let’s start with the bear. To set the scene a little,…
